Rachel Ray’s Kids Cook Off

A fun family show for you to watch on Food Network is coming soon! Rachel Ray is hosting a six episode series where KIDS are competing for a $20,000 culinary scholarship and a web series on FoodNetwork.com. Sounds exciting!

Do your children help out in the kitchen? My guys do, but I have to admit I usually give them pretty easy tasks. Pour this and mix that. I’ve never really thought that I should let them create a meal or recipe and really I’m probably not a very good teacher since cooking is not my favorite thing. This makes me realize that kids can do so much more in the kitchen if you give them a chance!

Each week, Rachael and an all-star guest judge, including Sunny Anderson, Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli, Robert Irvine, Jeff Mauro, Daymon Patterson, Marcus Samuelsson and Fabio Viviani will mentor and guide the kidtestants through culinary challenges, from preparing the perfect well-balanced bite, to creating “desserts in disguise” inspired by the new movie Hotel Transylvania 2. In addition, the young competitors must shine in on-camera challenges as they articulate their culinary point of view and bring their food to life. Only one will take home the grand prize and be crowned winner of this cook-off!

“I am not sure whose job is more difficult – the kids, who must survive tough challenges, or Rachael, who must choose between all of these talented young chefs.” said Bob Tuschman, General Manager and Senior Vice President, Food Network.

Maybe my own kids will get inspired in the kitchen after watching others their age. And I think it will teach us both some tips. I can only hope! We need a good chef at our house. ha!

The series will premiere on Monday, August 24th at 8pm ET/PT on the Food Network channel.

Cutthroat Kitchen Heads to the Outdoors

Have you ever seen a kitchen show outside?! This summer Food Network sends Cutthroat Kitchen to camp! Twelve chefs compete in a five-episode special series called Camp Cutthroat. They will compete for victory under the watchful eye of host and head counselor Alton Brown. Sounds so fun!

“Alton hits new levels of mischief and devilish humor in Camp Cutthroat,” said Bob Tuschman, General Manager and Senior Vice President, Food Network. “We knew taking Cutthroat out of the studio and off to camp would create a one-of-a-kind event that’s perfect for summer and we are excited for viewers to join in the mayhem.”

Set in a secret location deep in the wilderness, these memorable Cutthroat alumni battle for the chance to win up to $75,000 in a tournament of great outdoors-themed culinary challenges with a diabolical twist. With extreme tug-of-war and canteen cooking to battles in the camp lake, only the contestants with the strongest culinary chops and sabotage skills make it to the end of camp.

The tournament begins on Wednesday, August 12th at 9pm ET/PT leading up to a final showdown between the four winners on September 9th.
