Duke is four months old next week. Our baby is growing up! We haven’t had a puppy in the house for five years and let me tell you that it has definitely been a challenge! Chewing up everything in site, Nonstop energy, the Biting that isn’t fun. It does get better, right? Good thing he is so cute!

One of the big questions I had at our first vet appointment was which brand of food to feed him? What formula is right for my dog? There are soooo many and my mind was overwhelmed. The doctor gave me a short list to choose from and one of them she recommended was Purina® Pro Plan®. She made it well known that we needed to pick a variety that was made for Large Breed Puppies. Duke is a german shepard/husky mix and he is going to get big!

Petsmart

We headed to Petsmart, our new favorite store, to see what Purina® Pro Plan® was all about. Petsmart is so close to our house that we can walk there! This is great because now we can walk Duke somewhere fun besides just the neighborhood. He loves it because he always gets a treat and get soooo much attention from shoppers and staff!

Petsmart Purina Pro Plan

My mouth dropped when I first saw the Purina® Pro Plan® aisle. Wow there is a lot of flavors! I learned there are five specialized platforms. Each one contains products formulated for a dog’s taste preferences, age/dietary considerations, or activity/lifestyle.  I was impressed they even had a Natural No-Grain line which is all the rage right now for dog diets, but my vet isn’t a firm believer in this fad so I didn’t concentrate on it. I love that Real chicken, beef, lamb, or salmon is the #1 ingredient found in all Purina® Pro Plan® dry formulas.

Purina Pro Plan

I also like that Purina® Pro Plan®  is affordable! I’ve priced many brands out as I have done my research and this is right about what I wanted to spend a month.

Of course during our visit we had to grab other things…including a Slow Feeder bowl made of ceramic. Poor Duke. He will now have to slow down as he eats and he won’t be picking up the bowl after he’s done. And we can never resist buying a new toy! He loves playing ball with us and this new one is made of a rope that will help take care of his teeth too.

Ha! Our pup is full grown and even the smallest slow feeder bowl is too big for her- She just navigates around them like a pro and sucks down her food- it’s a problem. We recently tried out the Shreds, though, and they require more than a bite (she has to actually chew now) so we’ve had some progress with that. Good luck with the puppy journey! #client
