Green Laundry Detergent is all I will use!

soapnutpicI’m trying to think back to when I first started using non-toxic laundry detergent. It was around 10 years ago I believe. There were no green brands in the general stores that I could buy so I special ordered mine from a company that made natural products. I was so proud of myself for washing my families clothes without chemicals.

Today, I’m happy to report that you can go in most stores and find green laundry detergent, even if it is just one or two brands. At least it is out there in the open! Of course if you shop at Whole Foods, one of my favorite stores, then you will find a great variety!

One type of person who should use these type of detergents for sure are people who battle allergies. Didn’t I just write a post on this? Yes I did! I said that anyone with allergies should use all types of green cleaners in their homes. In fact, Eco Nuts just won the People’s Choice Award on About.com for being the best eco-friendly detergent for allergies!

Have you heard of Eco Nuts Soap Nuts? They are a berry that grows in the Himalayas that naturally produces a soap. They are gathered from wild trees grown without any kind of chemicals, fertilizers, or pesticides. Yes, they are certified organic. You stick these Nuts in your washing machine to get clean, fresh, clothes! Actually, you can use them again and again until the Nut starts to fall apart and won’t contain anymore soap. Kind of neat!

I’ve also tried to make my own detergent before. What could be safer then adding my own ingredients? I have to admit though, I didn’t love it. I’d much rather buy smelly good, organic detergent, that is proven to work. I have a variety of kinds in my laundry room right now. I think it is fun to try out new ones, but still have my favorites at the same time. No matter which brand is in my load, I will guarantee that is is a green laundry detergent!

Only the best for my family.

How about you? Do you use an eco-friendly, non-toxic laundry detergent for ALL of your loads?
