The Last Comic Sitting Contest & Crazy Parent Tactics and Tricks

All parents are crazy to some degree, right? I mean, we have to be at times. How else do we change a diaper to a skirmy toddler or get our 9yr old to clean up this room? We plan tactics with tricks up our sleeves.

Our middle son, who is seven, is the most stubborn person you have ever met. He is also what I call our chicken child. He does not like to try new things that may be a bit scary the first time around. When can tell him until we are blue in the face that it is FUN, not scary, describe in detail what it’s all about and he’ll refuse if that is what is in his head.

For example, we recently went to a pool that had a slide that landed in the water. What child would not want to down that slide 100 times? O’Bear. It was just a normal park slide and Hubby was at the bottom ready to catch him. He would not go down and Hubby was getting frustrated with him for not trying. I wasn’t standing nearby to hear all that was going on, but suddenly I saw O’Bear go down! I was so proud and excited! Apparently, Hubby promised him a video game. WHAT?! Well, this subject is still an ongoing debate in our house about what was exactly said and promised. Crazy child. Crazy parent. 🙂

Now one of my best methods to get my boys to help me straighten up on Saturday mornings is singing! I have instilled the love of musicals in them. When I hear groans of complaints, I get out the DVDs and let them choose what they want to watch/listen to while they are cleaning. It’s usually a switch between Mama Mia and Grease and I love seeing them sing along as we get our chores done.

The Clorox Family recently launched a fun new site celebrating one of the most-used and underrated rooms in our homes – the bathroom! The Clorox Lounge is turning the bathroom into the laughroom with a community hub designed to be a mom’s go-to place for comedy. Hosted by comedian, actress and mom Sherri Shepherd, the site features hilarious anecdotes, fun contests, exciting give-a-ways, coupons and just the right amount of comic relief.

The potty is often named as the number one place for moms to find a moment of quiet and a break from a busy day! Do you get a break on the potty? I TRY! 🙂

View the videos, cast your vote at The Clorox Lounge, and comment for your chance to win $10,000 too! Have fun!
