Taking Care of Our Loved Ones

I have been very fortunate in life. I have not had to worry about my loved ones needing home health help.

I lost my last grandparent right after my wedding. She was 91 years old and lived a very full farm life raising seven children. Many of those years as a single mother as my grandfather died when my mom was only six. She was healthy through out most of her life and did end up spending her last few years in a nursing home setting. I wonder if my parents ever considered home health care for her? I never thought to ask.

I’ve watched friends around me struggle with sick parents. Turning for help is a great alternative. Allowing skilled nurses and therapists into our home to make our loved ones feel better. I hope someday that my children will research all the options for available care, as I will want to stay in my comfy house and sleep in my bed with my thousand pillows.

Now that I think about it though, accidents and sickness could strike at anytime. I don’t think health care is just for the elderly. I’ve been spoiled with good health for me and those around me. Thank you God.

Have you had to deal with home care options before?

  1. Extended care is definitely something most people don’t think of, and therefore don’t prepare for. No one wants to think about not being able to take care of themselves. It’s good to know there are quality organizations, with great care out there.
