What are your Recipes For Fun?

I like fun! My boys definitely like fun! I may think about the mess that comes while having fun, but they sure don’t.

I was actually just blogging about arts and crafts messes the other day! I mentioned how my seven year old is the biggest crafter in our house and the more ‘tools’, crayons, stickers, stamps, beads, etc, the better. He used to drag this projects all over our house, especially covering my kitchen table! I found a card table that I set up in the corner of our guest room and labeled it Craft Table. The mess is now contained. Well mostly!

The way I look at it though, I’d rather they make a mess doing crafts or helping me bake, then watching tv and playing video games.

Clorox Clean-Up is collecting Recipes For Fun ~ you can submit a recipe for one of the following categories ~ Wacky Science, Arts and Crafts, Kiddie Cooking, or Creative Cooking. All topics any kid loves!

What type of recipe will you share? Since it’s Valentine’s Day month, I am going to choose the Strawberry Cookies that O’Bear and I just made. They are easy AND fun!

STRAWBERRY COOKIES

1/4 cup butter, softened
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 large egg
1 Box Strawberry Cake Mix(I use Duncan Hines)
2 Tbl. water
1/2 t. vanilla
1/2 cup of walnuts, finely chopped
1 container of vanilla frosting

With an electric mixer, blend butter & cream cheese in a large bowl. Add egg, then rest of ingredients. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet. Bake 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool. Then frost.

Yield:  2-2 1/2 dozen cookies

I actually made these cookies with my mom when I was a kid. I think you can use any flavor of cake mix and they will turn out just as yummy. The strawberry is super good and I love the pink for February!

So go grab your kids and get out the ingredients, the bowls, the frosting, and get to creating this recipe of fun. Don’t forget to make a BIG mess!
